Default Aftermarket Head Unit install using Factory GPS Antenna?

I tried searching for this, but was not able to find anything conclusive....

I have an aftermarket Joying Android headunit installed that has an SMA connector for the GPS and wanted to know if I can just use an adapter to convert the square connector housing to a standard SMA connector? I found this:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...=A9QUIB0MN6F74

which seems like it could potentially work? For ~$8 its worth a try, but I was wondering if anyone has already gone down this road? Are there any concerns about trying this?

My HU came with a GPS antenna, but A) I managed to loose it and B) I didn't want to have to dig around and install it if the properly placed factory antenna would work with a simple connector adapter.

Thoughts??
Thanks!

It "should work". I am pretty sure all gps antennas are required to work the same way and I don't see Joying or Nissan as trying to re invent it.

I had high hopes for this. I found an adapter that will mate to any keyed navigation connection (apparently there are many). I tried the adapter and got no GPS connection. I tried several places and drove around for a bit, but nothing.

I then connect a cheap GPS antenna with SMA and got instant connection. So it would seem that the factory GPS antenna is not compatible with my Joying head unit. Perhaps other systems are compatible?

Bummer!
