Lackluster Bose Audio ...
I'm quite unimpressed with the Bose system in my '17. I have a factory Alpine system in my '14 Ram 1500 and it's 200% better. I'm starting to wonder if the amp is bad in the Z or something … I mean, there is not really a thump at all out of the rear sub. Sound quality only seems to be decent with digital audio via my Firefly.
Am I off-base? Or, is this pretty much what others experience as well? Reference thread- Bose System Sucks? |
If you want to thump, you'll need to replace the Bose system. It is on the weak side when it comes to power.

I consider myself a moderate home audiophile and I find my Bose system quite good. Of course, this is subjective and it all depends on what you're looking for in a car audio system. If it's thumping bass, then yeah, the Bose system is not that. If it's accurate and clear reproduction of music, it is excellent for an OEM system. I am completely happy with mine. But, there is something that you can do to improve the subwoofer response. You should apply sound deadening material in the hatch area around and below the subwoofer. I found quite a difference in my case. I only applied the sound deadening material to drown out a little of the ARK exhaust noise. But, I also found it improved the subwoofer response quite a bit.

Bose blows in just about all areas except headphones.

Aftermarket HU with EQ capabilities really wakes it up. I don't feel the need to change anything but that.
