Sony XAV AX1000

This is the newly released successor to the popular AX100 unit. Very similar units, but the new one is only Apple CarPlay compatible (No Android Auto), has a slightly smaller display (6.2" vs 6.4"), and has the USB and AUX input on the front to eliminate the worry of routing a cable into the center console. Also, this unit is $100 cheaper than the AX100. I've ordered this unit along with:

-Metra 40-NI12 Antenna adapter
-Metra 70-7553 wiring harness
-Axxess ASWC-1
-Scosche dash kit

If anyone has this stereo, or the AX100, let me know if there were any install complications, and if I need anything else to install this on my 2019 Z with BOSE (no navi). Also drop your feedback on the stereo itself! I should be installing this over the weekend so I will definitely update this thread with my thoughts.

Installed the AX1000 yesterday. So far I love it and I have no complaints. Apple CarPlay is amazing, and the highs sound loud and crisp. Got the steering wheel adapter to auto-program and the unit fit perfectly on the OEM Nissan mounting brackets. I DID NOT like the cheap Scosche dash kit and just ended up using the stock piece even though there is a tiny gap around the stereo.

I would certainly recommend this stereo to anyone. For less than $300 you can't really go wrong. Plus, it blends in really well with the interior of the Z... very nice finish and classy look

Were you able to retain steering controls?

Does it work with the steering wheel buttons? Like for volume and change track?

Yes. As long as you get the Axxess steering wheel control module.

Similar to when you buy a home receiver and there ten stickers on the face of it.

I just ordered an android deck and the Metra harness. If I hate it I'll probably go with the Sony deck too. Noticed you have a 2019 Z as well. Did you Metra harness plug into the stock wiring no problem? Thanks!
