Why do I need this bluetooth adapter on my 2014 Nismo and I didn't need it on my 2017 Sport. Both are Bose without navigation?

Does nobody know what the purpose of this bluetooth adapter is?

According to Crutchfield it's to retain steering wheel bluetooth buttons.

Thanks. I wonder why the 2017 steering wheel controls worked fine without it. Crutchfield didn't even list it at the time as a required adapter. Funny thing is, now they do. :icon14:

Yeah, that's strange. I'm not sure about the bluetooth buttons on the steering wheel. I know my steering wheel has audio controls, which I still haven't hooked up to my aftermarket radio, but I don't think it has bluetooth???

Anyway, Crutchfield is right here in my backyard in Charlottesville. So I use them a lot.

I believe it's to be able to use the bluetooth buttons below the volume up/down on the left side controls as shown in the attached picture.

From what I’ve read, it’s to allow the pick up and hang up buttons to work when installing the aftermarket headunit.

The original harness is normally plugged into the Bluetooth module which is behind the seat. Once you unplug the harness, the adapter bypasses a few pins thus allowing the pick up and hang up buttons to operate.

That’s my rudimentary understanding of it.

Yep, that's exactly what it was for.
