The stereo in my Pathfinder was bose with 10 speakers and a 6 cd changer. It was a good stereo. The one in my base 370Z is only so so.

Upgrade base stereo?
The stereo in my Pathfinder was bose with 10 speakers and a 6 cd changer. It was a good stereo. The one in my base 370Z is only so so. I was wondering what it might cost to upgrade to the top of the line 370Z stereo system or would it make more sense to go after market? Thanks for the help.

I decided to opt out and I figure i'll go aftermarket. There's plenty out there that surpass a bose system at a lower price point.
The stereo isn't a big issue to me right now however, I'd rather listen to the engine |

OP the best thing you can do is tear all the bose stuff out and start over here are just a few threads that have asked your question by others.

Thanks for the replies
Mine is whatever the base system is. No Bose if I'm not mistaken. Yeah, the engine sound is cool. From what you all have said, it looks as if the best route is an after market system.

For VinZ
That sounds like the way to go. The speaker quality is not the same as I had in my Pathfinder. Now I have to find someone I can trust to do the work.
Pardon my ignorance, what did you mean by HU and EQ? I grew up at a time when there was one speaker in the car...for the am radio. Last edited by Inspector71; 01-15-2010 at 09:15 AM. Reason: Forgot to reply to Kenchan |

I found the bose sub was junk, my ghetto blaster from the 80's can put out more base then that. So while installing my nitrous bottle i noticed i would have to take the spare tire and sub out....today i went out and bought 2x 10" rockford fosgate subs and a 1200 4 way audio amp...got all the wiring kit and also a compustart alarm and remote starter for $1038.

definitely replace the head unit for better sound. stock nissan stereo's, especially the base ones have a pretty awful sound to them. my stock stereo stayed in my truck for 3 days while i waited for the dash kit to come in back when i had a single DIN cd deck (now i have a double DIN dvd/nav). after i changed it out, i was surprised how much of a difference it made, even with the stock speakers. i then found speakers and replaced those which sounded even better. later i built a sub box and put in a sub (8" between the rear jump seats, again in my truck not a Z), and was again surprised once i got the channels mixed properly and the LPF turned on and dialed in the amp. it took some work but it was worth it. anyway, start with the head unit first
