Default Stealth Box. Calling out PG6Speed!! =)

I don't really know why i'm posting this, but i'm sure quite a few people here will agree with me. As a non touring owner, I would gladly pay for a stealth box that replaces the spare and when covered with the existing mat looks completely stealth. I don't have the skill to do this, but some people here like pg6speed who are extremely talented probably can. Is there any way we can gauge what kind of an interest there are on this? PG6, is this something you potentially may think about helping us out with? The only reason i'm holding off from a system is this very reason - unless it is completely hidden and does not jeopardize any compartment space, i don't think i can do it for my personal reasons. Also a thing to consider is that when the spare is taken out, the support for the compartment area is completely gone and becomes very flimsy, not able to load the cargo area with anything even remotely heavy. If we can address these issues and find a way to remedy them, i think we'll all be happy campers. Any suggestions or ideas?

If you didn't see my post a bit further down, I'm taking my car in tomorrow to let a local shop spec out the spare so they can build the box in the spare. Please go post over there if interested and let me know what speaker size you wish. I'm taking all requests to the shop so maybe we'll get some good pricing on a group buy.

Wow just callin me out huh.. cool.. The 8's just aren't doing it for me so I'm going to change things up soon. I will look into the spare area for something that will be able to support weight above it, with and without the spare. I'm also looking at a few other options. I'm with a lot of you and want something with more design, style, and stealth but, it takes time and money to make things more custom than a drop in bulky mdf box.
With the exception of a couple installs what I've seen so far is pretty basic. It is possible to put two 10's our even two 12's behind the seats if you take out all the plastic panels and glass something in. I know firing into the back glass (like the zenclosure) will yield the best response but, in an interior this small two 12's behind the seats facing forward would bang.
I've also thought about glassing in 10's up on the sides where the rear quarter windows are. We'll see what happens next but keep in mind I work full time and this is just a hobby and I work out of my home garage.

you know what you can also try to do. its not going to be easy but you know the area under the tail lights that has the tools to change the spare tire? well once you take off the Styrofoam there is a lot of space down there so you can make two separate boxes that slide in that corner with the woofer facing towards the front of the car. that way we could keep the spare tire and it would also be hidden

JL Audio is working on a Stealth box for the 370Z. I have heard that its going to be in the spare tire area.

Actually the JL stealtbox pictures i have seen for the 370z are not in the spare tire. They are in the same spot across the rear strut bar as the Zenclosures but just more shallow.

Will be starting this project soon, hopefuly. I posted a thread in the North East section of this forum and there is an interested member who is willing to Donate his car for a couple days so that we can use it to make a MAGICBOX FOR THE 370Z.

I will be getting a phone call tomorrow from the potential donor. But in case it falls throug I am looking for back up Donors as well. First Volunteer will receive a FREE First Magic Box for the 370Z.

I will ofcourse check the car and space providing there is space in the spare tire area that is the plan, However we may make other options available for the car.

Currently I have 4 Different types of Magic boxes offered for the 350Z.

Corner boxes are definitely not out of the question.

Lol at JL's "stealth" box. It looks very OEM and I really like how it's recessed to with protective grills etc; however, I would rather just have 1 nice 10-12" sub verses two basic JL's imo. Also I wonder what the weight of that thing is, hey at least it might balance out the car?

When will somebody release a nice fiberglass box with amp racks etc. I want it painted PW!

In that case my vote still goes to the z enclosures for looking better and being able to put whatever sub you want in them and not spending a F ton of money for the JL name.

Yep.. Mike (Zenclosure) makes a all around good sub box for the 350Z and 370Z for a reasonable price. If I add a sub, I may make a sub box out of a non-MDF material (composite FRP) to keep the box light weight with optimum acoustics for a given subwoofer. Mike has made some FRP sub boxes in the pass; however, they were heavy.

BOX STARTED

Will be using the spare tire and sit in the spare tire, will be extending out about 1" and using that full area as part of the enclosure. Very trick and Fully usable without loosing ant trunk area at all. We are shooting for .8 Cu ft. Designed for shallow sub and still be totaly hidden stealth. If someone wanted to show the sub we can add a couple rings and get a bigger sub in there as well, but this will stick it further out into the trunk area. Majority of you from what I gathered want it to be totaly stealth... Will still have full use of all the jack and spare tire.

We will be marketing it with JL 13tw5 for the bass hungry 370z owners.
But it will house a 10" sub, most shallow subs will fit.
