Music on the NAVI HD
Hi all,
For those that had the Hard Drive Navi system, do you have a particular plan for getting your music onto it? Did you do get it on there in one marathon session copying CD after CD until your collection is on the HD? Or did you simply grab a new CD every time you took the car out? How long can you dump CDs to the HD with the car off before you have to worry about running down the battery? I wish I could just dump my mp3s from a USB drive, but I guess the only way to get music into the box is to copy CDs. Cheers and here's hoping for warmer weather -- it's cold here in central texas |

I just drive to work with a new CD every day and have it on auto import, or whatever it is called... Pissed off that it puts a gap between songs that blend into each other. What year is this again? I hope the iPod connection doesn't do that...

Whether there are discrete pauses between songs that blend into each other will probably depend on whether they are saved as discrete files. As far as I know there is nothing in the encoding of a compressed audio file that indicates a relationship with another song such that the normal pause between songs should be eliminated when this song follows that song.
Anyway my peeve is that I can't simply upload music into the music box via USB. I spent a lot of time ripping all my CDs to mp3s and annotating those whose artist/title the CD database couldn't find. I'm not looking forward to doing that again -- one out of the three CDs I've loaded onto the music box so far was lacking artist and title information -- I'm 3/14th of the way through editing the title/artist info for that CD |
