The 10.1" units are usually a double din body that installs where the stereo usually goes, but the screen itself plugs into the body on a hinge mechanism. The android units they rarely show a side profile and only show a head on angle. Here's an example:
Thank you that makes much more sense now. Not sure if that would look right sticking out like that.

Thanks...Crutchfield has a set of JL Audio 6x9 components that says don't fit but when I spoke with a salesman he told me that they do fit and not to worry. The dimensions imply it will not fit but its so close I can see how it would.

Looks promising but I would like to see a frequency response and it looks like they only have 2 GB of arm.

If your connecting one of these units to an AMP do you really need a head unit with a built in DSP chip?

Once I am done with all this research I'm going to cut an paste it on the first page so it easier to find.

An Amp and a DSP fundamentally do different things. Many products have both.

I should reword the question...Would a Head unit with builtin DSP be more beneficial then a head unit with no DSP when pairing them with an external amp?

DSP is the wrong term to use here. Every head unit will have a DSP of some kind and they will have various features. Some manufacturers marketing material will include a blurb about the DSP chip they use.

What I think you are trying to ask about is processing features. Things like time alignment, equalizer, or crossover capability.

These are things you can find in some headunits, some amps, and some stand alone processors. You need to decide which features are important to you, and make sure something in your equipment list has it.

Another thing to consider is how much adjustment you will need in any particular feature (like EQ bands and levels), and how much you intend on tinkering with it. If it's something you are going to **** around with a lot, its much easier to push buttons on your head unit while in your primary listening position than it is to pop 5 interior panels to get to your amp.
CRiZO likes this.

Don't get me wrong I care about the features but I am more interested in the improved sound that comes from a head unit with a dedicated digital signal processor but then again I am not sure if a DSP chip is just marketing like you said. I have a bad habit of over thinking every decision and I've seen 3 brands Joying, Eonon, and AutoShop offer a head unit with DSP & 4 GB of ram. I am trying to decide if DSP is worth getting cause it will affect my decision.

As mentioned above, completely different things. Unless you get a head unit with DSP like the 80prs then that has built in DSP properties.

Has anyone been able to figure out what the preamp voltage is for these units? In my research literally only 2 companies have posted there voltage and not for all of there units. For example Joying...I only saw the voltage for one of the units which was 2 volts but ATOTO on the other hand states most of the late/New units have 4 volts. All other brands don't mention a thing.

Do you all know of any others that run at 4 volts or better?
