i know you can't use the existing one but many people have mounted them on their dash or somewhere in the hatch and it's worked just fine.

My wife's ML-320 has one mounted inside the right-rear window. Works fine.

It just needs line of sight to the Northeastern sky. Like Direct TV or something similar. Oh hey, does the fin pop off? Maybe I could just reuse the cover.

Do what I did for AK. I mounted it on top of the dash. Works just fine. Or you can google or ebay "shark fin" and might be able to replace the one you have.

I will do some more research on this and let everyone know how I come out. Now I know I laid that drill here somewhere....

I recently added the Sirius Sat. and installed the antenna on the dash as well.
Works perfectly there, no need to be outside the car.

I think I will put it in the hatch area. The wire is already run back there. Just hope they didn't cut the wire.

the wire will be coiled up, hopefully not folded back on itself. they come with roughly 15' of cord and are hard to fix if you have any damage. it will most definitely not be cut. the question is "where's the coiled up part?"
