Bluetooth connects, but does not stream music

Hey guys,

I did research, so don't give me too much crap. I have a 2015 Z without navigation and I'm having issues with actually using the Bluetooth. I'm able to connect via the voice commands and pair my phone without issue. There is no, "Bluetooth," option that shows up on the radio screen. I played around with the buttons, but all I have is the AUX/CD/USB/Radio.

Am I missing something? Is there another step I need to make? The instructions don't mention how to troubleshoot if the Bluetooth option does not come up on your screen.

Thanks for the help

Unfortunately there is no Bluetooth audio stream with the stock headunit.

Really? So it's only function for the Bluetooth is phone calls without the Nav unit?

Thanks for the reply

Yup, unfortunately. Good thing is since you have the non-nav unit, its easier to upgrade your head unit to a much better unit and get all the features you want without all the hassle of the Bose system.

Yep, a friend and I that both have the Z always wondered how they could set up blue tooth phone but not blue tooth audio. I installed a head unit and it has been a great improvement. Good luck!

Thanks for the info, you saved me a lot of time and frustration. They don't make it very apparent anywhere that you can only take calls without the Nav unit.

I bought an aux cable for now. I use Spotify, so an aftermarket unit with Bluetooth will definitely be the route to go. What are your thoughts on any of the aftermarket Bluetooth adapters as a temporary solution? They claim to stream audio.

Thanks a ton, I'm so glad I asked.

Until I got the head unit, I just used a cable to plug my phone in for Spotify. Mainly I wanted to skip songs with the steering controls. A co worker uses the Bluetooth adapter since his car also doesn't have it standard. Haven't heard any complaints

I'm going to use the Aux plug for now. I always forget my phone in my car when I use a cable.

The adapters that actually work look pretty pricey vs. purchasing a nice stereo with Bluetooth integration.

The Aux works great. I'm surprised at how good the base stereo is. Plenty for my needs at least.

.........and then you upgrade and really wake it up. I thought the same as you about the OE Bose. Just added an Appradio 3 to the OE Bose system and BOOOM!!
