Pioneer AppRadio 3 to Iphone 5C Connection, Help Needed.
I've been searching Google and the forum (here) now for over 2 hours and cannot find any current info. on what wiring is required to connect a Iphone 5c, with IOS 10+ (not 11) to an Sph-DA210.
The most recent info I can find was during IOS 7 which stated the Pioneer CDIH202 harness was NOT needed and only an Apple Lightning Digital AV Adapter and Lightning to USB was. However, the author noted in later IOS releases this may not be the case. So maybe the CDIH202 is needed now? Can someone please school me on what cables are currently necessary to connect these devices with the IOS stated above? Trying not to throw money out the window on unneeded parts. Thanks for any help you can lend. :tiphat: |

Lightning cable. I had the same questions with a CarPlay stereo. In the end used a lightning cable. Make sure it is a genuine Apple one. They are fussy with non genuine.
Use the one that came with the phone Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

EXCEPT connect the Lighting AV "box" female lightning to the HU USB pigtail? Thus ditching the famed CDIH202 that everyone says is unnecessary. OR 2. Do you mean a Lightning to USB Cable (Apple supplied "power cord") connected right to the USB pigtail (cable) on the back of the HU? The only info. I found on hooking it up in that manner is that it will only charge the phone and not control the HU. Are you saying that's inaccurate? |
That link is way old, they should have updates that make it mainstream to only needing usb to lightning.

I connected Apple (OE) charging cord right to the USB pigtail on the Appradio 3 and get zilch on my 5C when plugging in after unlocking the phone as detailed in Pioneer's manual. The charging audio tone does chime but that's it.
Tried both "Iphone A/V" and "Others" modes in the Application Connection Settings Menu of the HU as well as options "ON" and "OFF" in the App. Launch Menu in each to no avail. From what my Pioneer manual download (last week, so current) says the phone charging cord to USB pigtail route is only for mirrorplay devices which I've researched Iphones are not. I therefore assume option #1 in post #3 above is the route I must take for connection. HOWEVER I find two bits of info. pertaining to App communication between the phone and bluetooth. 1. Controlled via HDMI cable. 2. Controlled via Bluetooth. I've connected bluetooth while in both Application Connection Setting menu selections as well as both App. Launch Menu's and no Apps. appear on the HU; however, the phonebook, phone functions etc. work on the HU. I confirmed the HU has the latest firmware installed. |
For the archives.
Required Apple AV Adapter, lightning cable to USB plugged into the USB pigtail on the HU, HDMI plugged into the HDMI port on the HU. |
