Best location in the A-pillars

I will be glassing some HAT tweeters in the A-Pillars this weekend. My ears are not what they used to be. Yet, I have searched some threads on A-Pillar tweeter installs and not really any information on height or On axis or off axis direction of the mount. Im looking for some suggestion on people that have installed in the Pillars and tested different locations before installing. Thanks for your time!

On axis can be bright, unless you have capable eq control in an active setup. If you are using a passive crossover, best to go slightly off axis, in my opinion, due to the lack of control over eq and level.
Best placement??? Varies greatly. Try this: Wire it all up, leave lots of slack at dash. Velcro back of tweeter and pillar, or double sided tape. Try different locations until you get it honed in. (ultimately much easier with processor to eq)

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I called HAT a few weeks ago. They recommended Off axis as well. I did do Passive this time. I wanted to push a little more power into the mid-bass than active would have allowed. I did mess around with the double sided tape moving them around. To be honest my ears are not what they used to be. I'm not really able to pick up the subtle differences anymore. That P99 is a dam fine deck. I just was not going to put the kind of money into this system I built years ago for my younger son. Plus kids going to stream most his music. I miss my old Zapcos. You will appreciate this from 97. Not a scratch on it. Has about a years play time on it. ITs driving the front stage.

Seems counter intuitive to me? Wouldn't you be able to push more power to the midbass in an active setup? I'd think the limited control of power distribution between the tweet and the mid in a passive setup would bottleneck how much power you could get into the mid.. no?

Or is this choice being dictated by your amp...meaning you want to bridge your x4 into an x2 or for more power?

Yes, the later part. I bridged the 4 into a 2 channel. I have Hybrid Audio Clarius comps for the front stage. The mids want some extra juice to really sing. I'm really enjoying how they sound for the moment. I ran some Morel Supremo mid and Piccolo tweets in my last build. I'm a big fan of large tweeters. Yet, this car was not going to allow that unless I did horns.

It could pass for brand new in box.

I finished the A-pillar install of Hybrid Audio Clarius series tweeters . Im a big fan of large format tweeters most the time. Just love the smooth sound of them. Fro a small tweeter these sound very good for being so small. Im very picky, a little tuning and I believe I will be very happy with them. I decided off axis just below ear level was the best location. I did not do the fiber glassing and wrapping of them. I had a friend in San Diego build them for me. I'M a techy not really an artsy guy. Thus, for it to look normal and not like I put them in with a sledge hammer. Was worth the few dollars well spent. These guys blend in very well with the car.
