going w/kicker amp and sub

Well I think Im going to go with kicker amp ZX300.1 and sub CVR104 4 ohm DVC for my bass upgrade to my Bose system. I was told this would be possible by an Audio store without any adapters. They said they will probably keep the stock amp and hook that into the new amp. Does this sound right? If this is good I will use the ZEncloser box. I want to make sure this is a feasable route before I do it. Thanks.

If you are talking about hooking up your new amp to a bose system than no you need a mtx re-q in between the stock amp and the new one. The reason that is needed is because the bose system alternates the outgoing signal before going to the bose amp. The re-q corrects all the adjustments the bose system did.

If this is a base system it is possible. As long as the new amp has speaker level in.

Its for a Bose so I will have to get the MTX RE-Q, thanks. I want tomake sure its done right.

Well I got the kicker amp and woofer and the Zenclosure box in, now I will see about getting it installed this Friday. I will let those with the Bose system kow how just adding an amp and woofer helps, if any. Im thinking since Im not an Audiopfina (?) guy and just want a good system that this will probably be good.

I personally think the Bose sounds pretty good as is, but I feel most of the thumping coming from the doors and not the back so Im sure the new 10 in Kicker sub will let me hear and feel it from the back. So for those that dont want to rewire the whole car I hope this option will help, and for about $400 installed Im thinking it will do good.

Also the Zenclosure box fits great, I had to take the sliding cover the Touring model gets but I didnt have to remove the hookups for it. Box looks good Zenclosure thanks.

Kicker? They are ok... why not go w/ a nicer JL sub?

Zsteve 12-16-2009 04:53 PM

Not sure how much the JL stuff would be but the Kicker ZX300.1 amp was $104 and the 10 in Sub was $60, both on amazon which changes prices daily it seems. So price was one reason and I went only 300 watts so as not to over power the rest of the system. Im sure there are better ones out there but Im sure the Kicker will still be more than up to the job for this.

Kicker is good for subs and sub amps. Also 1000 times cheaper than JL. And still good.

Im sure they will help the sound experience in the car. Matt has pretty much the same type setup in his Nismo for as far as the amp and sub and box goes and his thumps pretty good so I think Ill be happy with it. Getting older and have lost some hearing in the 6k freq range so its not like I can hear everything thats suppose to be there anyway.

Though their amps are huge in size but it's such a beast for the price. I saw some kicker mono amp setup and L7 sub (I believe that's what the sub called) in a custom made box , I couldn't go near it. It's that LOUD.

The car is in the shop for the install, should be done soon and will let you know how it sounds and a pic or two.

I have 2 Kicker S10L7's powered by a KX 1200.1 amp in a custom Kicker ported box in my tC and I LOVE IT. It's just right for me cause it has good punch for all of the rock I listen to, but pleeeeenty of resounding base for the few rap song and dance music too. I plan on parting them out of the box since it will NOT fit in a Z trunk lol. Prolly get a zenclosure box if I can get a ported 2x box.

Well got the car back and man that one 10 inch sub with a 300 watt amp can kick. I of course cant turn it all the way up as it will over power the Bose stereo and probably rattle the car apart but with the seperate bass control the amp came with I can adjust the bass how I want. So I keep it kinda low and it gives me that louder thump from the rear I was wanting, and the feeling of hearing something from the rear and not only the front. For $400 I think it was a good upgrade that makes the stereo a little better now. So for those with the Bose this is a pretty option, an 8 inch might be even good enough.

nice to hear you are happy w/ the setup - post pics of how its all wired up if you can :)
