Full audio system fronts, rears and subs
I've been searching the internet and YouTube, and crutchfield etc for hours and can't quite come across the right answers
I have a couple of questions on how to wire up two amps. I have -pioneer Avh x4800 HU -Polk DB 6501 Component speakers -Polk DB 351 coaxial -two 12" lightning audio subwoofers -lightning audio L-1250 500 Watt mono amp -lightning audio L-4300 4-channel amp I know fronts - tweeter/mid --> crossover--> amp (FL/FR) Rears - coaxial --> amp (L/R) ** this is where I'm unsure of where the speakers are going to get signal from Do I get an RCA split and connect them through input and output (mono amp for sub is already connected with RCAs) |

Depends on how you're going to do this there's a few ways. First and most clean is running 2 pairs of RCAs from head unit to amplifier 4ch for speakers in my case I added rears...if you only keep the front two speakers you'll only run 1 pair of RCAs to the 2ch amp and one pair to the mono block sub amp.
Then.. I'd run a 2nd or 3rd pair of RCAs depending on your speaker setup. Everything comes directly from the head unit, I've always done that. However if you decide against that... Your amplifier L-1250 500 - subwoofer mono block, has 2 RCA connections... 1 pair is for input. Another pair is for output. Meaning the signal that's taken from the original input cables can also be output. Essentially. This is your splitter... So you wouldn't have to run another pair from the head unit. However I still would... Tldr: your head unit has front and rear RCA output and as well as sub RCA output. You have 3 RCA pair outputs on the back of the head unit. All signal comes from there. Run 3 pairs of RCA cables from head unit to amps and split your remote wire. Last edited by Knockoutpie; 01-12-2017 at 01:05 AM. |

Ahh ok I see what you're saying. I do remember reading somewhere that if I split rca I lose half the amount of power or something like that.
And if I run the speakers rca from the headunits "output" what do I do with the crossover that came with the polks |

You're going to want to tweak the fader for the rears when you're setting it all up anyhow. Those DB352's aren't going to handle anywhere near what the 6501's will so those are going to essentially be just for a bit of rear fill - but that is nice to have anyways. Makes for a more complete soundstage. That's basically how mine is setup too, and I have a pioneer head unit as well. |

Yea man the rear fill really helps a lot, I came from an accord exl which had "7" speakers and going from 7 to 4 really hurts. Even my brothers base model frontier speakers sound better, but hey it's a sports car not a luxury vehicle lol |

Well. The way I did it since my speakers aren't anything mad powerful is rear speakers you can run your own wire. From the front speakers you connect speaker wire of similar gauge to gray and white wires and run the from the head unit to the amp. Make sure you have a wiring harness on the head unit.

Ok so I have only the front speakers wired up to the amp as of rn. Waiting on the dual amp kit to come in. I'm not quite sure how to adjust the frequencies on the amp itself. Don't know whether to put it in AP, HP, and LP.
When I adjust my gain sometimes it'll randomly raise and lower by itself, I noticed it does that when I fiddle with the rca cable itself (bought it at oreillys) could it also be a case of shitty rca cables? Thanks and sorry for so many questions just trying to figure out how to do it myself than take it to a shop and rape me for my money lol |
