Av Navigation unit 09. 8 pin what is it for?Any Help? Thanks!
Hi everyone !
I recently purchased a 2009 navigation system. Now i am trying to figure out where the cables connect to because mine didn't come with a navigation system. I have the 28185-1AN08 Unit the weird part is i cant find any manuals that include that 8 pin plug i figure out the others 12 pin to monitor the 21 pin to the bose system, btw i have a bose system, and the 3 pin to antenna i even know that the old Ac Units talks directly and the navi one through CAN bus i kinda figure everything out though the 2009 Av Manual .I really cant figure out that 8 pin connector i guess it has to be the CAN bus pins witch i need to make it talk to the ASSY NAVI CONTROLLER and the AC unit all other connectors doesn't Include CAN bus as far as the manual goes :/ here some pics of the unit Any Help would be really appreciated!!!! ps. I am pretty sure it was from a Nissan 370z and from Germany although the part number seems to be from Infinity or Murano even these manuals dont include that pic or cant find it where .. |

i'ts my understanding that you can't retrofit a nav system to a base non-nav car, unless you'll get new wireharnesses for dash...ect and proabaly new ECU. if you can manage to do this without all of the above then you'll be the first (as far as i know)

You can get an aftermarket HU with nav for cheaper than it will cost to install that OEM nav into your non-touring car. Plus the OEM nav sucks.

Thanks for the replies
You mean it cant be done because it is a 09 Navigation and trying to install on a 2011 roadster model ? or in generally is it impossible to install it ? Well i have ripped my interior apart searching for the assy controller module the thing that has the navigation software dvd, some say the base bose bluetooth module should be behind the passenger seat, i ripped it apart and find only the bose system amp :/ I connect everything with the help of the service manual diagrams and it seems to start up,theoretically it should work the Ac unit needs the the Can bus ecu wich all pins are the same except its can bus driven not direct as the old one . i got to a point where all works but the display lights up only not showing anything so my guess is either i screwed up the wiring or as you said it cant get feed from another ecu even though it has nothing to do with the ecu it connects the component to each other through Can Bus so i dont think the ecu is relevant according to the diagram, my worries are that the Service manual book from a 2009 model wont show what the 8 pin connector behind the Av Control unit is and shows that the 12 pin is the display connector as i connected to the display. Now i found this guys walk though where he shows what the pins are in a picture showing the 8 pin is the audio inputs and the Can Bus that i am looking for ,but the 12 pin showing it as completely something else as the service manual describes no what is right what is wrong ??? ps:JarBlue Thanks for the tip and dont get me wrong but when i ask for help about a factory navigation system it is because i need help with this certain matter not tips about other ideas what i could do, it may suck in software and i know i could get a better even android one but for less cheaper but the design of the factory one is nothing in compare with any other 2 din display and many people searching desperately for answers like me finding only post on how to install and answers of buying aftermarket it is really frustrating So Please dont be mad just saying politely, please stop posting about aftermarket stuff i dont care! Only Oem answer that might give some light in this matter Thanks |

Just for info Scope22 seems to be right i gave it a try and every time i connect the Can bus to the main car system all my instruments shutting down ..... :/ in order to prevent any screw ups that will eventually cost me a lot more ,i gave up this dream
So i am currently working on another solution and try to retain the OEM design . I will create a new Raspberry pi 3 mini pc with a 7 inch Raspberry Touchscreen Display mounted as the OEM Display and try to rewire all the main Multi switch Buttons as new controls to the Raspberry like press nav open Navigation app and so on with some cool extensions like external Hdd for more capacity and be able through Wifi to load new stuff into the car system,Gps Module for Navigation system ,Rear Camera , Simply hook the sound output to the Aux of my Base Bose system. Recreate the original display panel to make it fit onto the base panel and thats it! Ill try to make a step by step tutorial once im done for anyone interested on something like this to recreate it. |

It appears you have now figured this out. Good luck with whatever direction you choose to take.

The only way you're going to get tht to work is to cut and splice in a new harness that changes things to the correct harnesses as well as you'd need the bose speakers and the bose amp. It's not worth it.

So i took out my nav system from my 2010, it looks totally different from yours, given yours is 2009. But the fact that i took my system out and replaced it with a tablet should tell you that you're probably doing it backwards, sure you get a nice OEM look but functionality just doesn't even come close to a tablet with all the apps you can get.
