Default Backup Camera install trouble

So I installed a Pioneer Appradio 4 with an Esky Backup Camera from Amazon. I know it isn't the best quality, but I figured it would be worth it. The Appradio went in fine and I connected the Backup Camera yellow cable to the brown port labeled (BC) per the manual.

I connected the Red wire to the Green/White wire in the reverse light and the black wire to the black cable. The LEDs on the Camera don't work, but when I put it into reverse the small red leds inside the Camera come on. So I know it's getting some kind of power. Also, there is no video displayed on the head unit itself. I turned on all the settings in the OS, but nothing happens. Just a black screen.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

I'm assuming the black wire is the ground .....try using a straight ground to the frame ....I have had issues using factory grounds before

agreed... I went a step further and grounded my cam to the headunit's ground to ensure commonality between them.

Also, I just ran ignition-switched power to my camera... It "works" if you just turn it on with the reverse lights, but you may have to deal with some flickering or other issues as the camera comes up. If you have it on with the car, you can also view the video when not in reverse if your camera allows. I tapped the reverse lights only to trigger the video for the headunit.

Just thought it was worth mentioning...

I have an app radio 4 and the cheapo Nissan reverse light camera. I have no issues. Setting for camera in head unit need to be power on with battery, not ground. Red wire + video rca needs to be in the brown rca input on head unit with the red wire connected to reverse trigger wire.

On bumper side with camera power needs to be tapped on reverse lights (easier to do from the passenger side) and the extension plugged into the camera. I have 0 issues with mine. Turns on and off as expected.
