Subwoofee and amp w/ oem bose amp
Im looking to throw one 12in sub in the back w/ a alpine amp.
Does factory bose system come with an amp to power the factory subwoofer thats in the spare wheel? If so, are there any problems in which to wire a different amp with it or do you guys remove the oem bose amp? Also another question is.. How is the OEM head unit sound with subwoofers? Should in go ahead and replace that also? I am always running a aux cord so no need for a fancy double din at the moment unless I go ahead and go with a GPS route 09 touring Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I tapped into one of the sets of sub wires with an audio control lc2I, ran that output to my amp.
also the bose sub is powered by the bose amp under the foam under the back mat. If you replace the head unit you need to do the speakers as well, its a full on replacement, bose speakers have a weird impedance or some such nonsense that makes them incompatible with regular aftermarket HU's. I think it sounds "ok" overall with just subs and stock everything else..but it doesn't really liked to be pushed loud before sounding like shite in my opinion. Thanks for the info! So replacing the HU would need to replace the speakers all around as well? (Due to their wiring im guessing?) But wiring up some subs and running factory HU And speakers is fine. I dont need alot of slap.. Im looking at one of the zenclosures; and since it sits behind me, im not looking for anything too crazy.. I removed the OEM trunk mats and stuff so the stock bose sub can create more bass. It sounds OK, but i would like to take it maybe a step or two up. Hopefully looking for a setup of around 4-500$ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Beemerkid is right LC2i for the stock HU, just not too sure about having to replace all the speakers. I changed to an aftermarket HU in my old 350z and the Bose speakers worked fine. Should be the same with 370z I believe. I did have the shop do it because I was still learning about this stuff before, so maybe they did something special to it to make it work with the stock speakers.
I had a 12" in my new 370z, stock Bose HU, sounded great tbh, even turned up, but I'm not an audiophile. The OEM Bose sub was a bit too subtle for me so I just snipped it and left it in the spare. As far as the Zenclosures box what sub are you getting? Make sure to pay attention to the air space for the box and the requirements for the sub, because the Z box I had was way too small, so I'm going with the 10" route instead now. Heard a 10" sundown in person and it slapped harder than my 12" in the wrong box. Last edited by alangoooo; 08-25-2016 at 12:37 PM. |

Im not too tech-head with audio.. I was looking at type-r alpines with an alpine mx55? Not sure if thats the correct amp name.. I would like the best possible clean bass without shattering my rear window or be a nuisance to public. Had been debating 1 12, 1 10 or 2 10s as i know the box will most likely be small as i purchases one from zenclosure for my g35 coupe running one 12, it slaps too hard i would say.. Too much bass hit as well as not being too clear; if i can remember i was running a hifonics or a MDX 1000w with a alpine type s. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If you think a single 12 in a G35 slapped too hard, I would recommend going with a 10". Our cars (370z) don't have an actual trunk and you're limited in how you want to set your box up. I would suggest getting the wiring done because you'll need that regardless, and then go to an audio shop who will generally let you hook up some sample 12's or 10's and you can decide what route to go with, and they can suggest a more proper amp for the sub you choose. You could also test out different brand subs. I'm not too familiar with Alpine as I was aiming more for an SPL build than SQL, but that never happened because the specific subs I wanted just required too much room. |
