Bazooka tubes?
Are bazooka tubes still around?????
I was thinking of getting 2 6inch tubes. Do you think its a good idea for a simple cheaper stero upgrade? I was thinking keep stock unit(car is leased) then add the tubes to the alpine amp I have. Thoughts? |
man thats ol skool. i had 2 of those tubes with 12's in them..they used to THUMP!
if you don't mind me ask and making a side note on your thread, how much is your lease? did you put $$ down? i'm currently looking for a lease on base+sport pkg |
$1200 down $500 per month. 39 months.
|
so you pay 20700$ at the end of 39 months? wow thats a lot for a lease I think... Better off buying it no? Why did you choose to lease?

It works for me. If I owned my g35 I would have killed myself now. Instead I took it to the dealer they ate my last 3 payments, saved me from a registration renewal on the g35, and gave me a new car. In 3 years I will take the 370 back drop it off and say thank you for letting me rent(abuse)this fine automobile,,,,,,,off to lease a brand new car. It works for me. |

I never cared for the tubes I use to have one and went right to a sealed 10 inch rockford fosgate punch stage 2 sub in a matter of 2 weeks. They are pretty muddy and "boomy" I would not recommend them.

Yah, I'm with big on both issues.
Basstubes have a slow attack and long decay. It's not crisp and your bass sounds sluggish. If you really want to save money, buy it and drive it to the ground. |
I waas thinking tubes cuz of the lack of space. i kinda wanted to keep what little room I have back there. But if you guys think its a bad Idea. Then Ill figure something out.
|
have you looked at zenclosures.com? they have a few options for the 370 that will leave you will trunk space.

Don't waste your money on the pre-fab self amplified subwoofers. They are a compromise at best. Anything in a plastic enclosure is going to sound bad. The amplifiers all have inflated power ratings and are extreamly poor quality. The drivers are very, very cheap and are not even made by the manufacture that produces them. They are typically made of paper with cheap foam surround and have small magnets and have very limited suspension so excursion is limited.
I would also recommend Zenclosures, get a good 10 or 12 and decent 250Watts RMS or greater amplifier. It will all cost about the same and the later will sound 10X better. |

yes, it may be general but I have yet to run accross anything pre-fab or in a plastic enclosure that impressed me for car audio.
