Using a telephone cable not Invisicord.
How are you physically tapping the wires? wire taps? strip/twist/tape? Jamming bare wire into the connector?

Stranded wire? You might try crimping on some leads or tinning the ends with some solder.

If by some chance you are using a solid core wire, throw it away. You've probably messed around with it enough that it has gone intermittent on you.

The mirror can supply plenty of current as many people are using the Invisicord for their detectors... which still leads me to believe you are just getting poor contact.

Hey, I'd just like to thank you all for your help and suggestions with this problem.
It has now been fixed and working just fine.
Jayhovah finally cracked it for me I recon.
I've shortened the cable which was 8' long (just in case I had to run it down to the fuse box) and is now only 6" long. I also soldered the wire ends before connecting and it fired up first time.

I really appreciate the help and patience that you fellas gave.

Here's a big THANK YOU to you all.

8'!! Probably a combo of poor contact and too much resistance from a tiny conductor at 8' length. Glad you got it figured out!
