Nismo Audio (and etc.)

Looked around but can't find good info so...if it's not too much trouble:

The 4-speaker system in the Nismo (and base, I believe), who makes it? The only name listed is for the Bose system in the Touring. And, as they say in my Acura forum, "No highs, no lows...must be Bose."

Also, where are the subs located in the Touring? In my RSX, it's under the spare tire.

And, finally, for you guys upgrading your audio in the base and Nismo (assuming I'm correct...there's no sub), where and how are you putting one in? Hidden? Exposed?

Tanks !

The Nismo is a front speaker only system, same as the base. 4 speakers if you're a mfg counting tweets as separate drivers, 2 speakers in the real world. The sub on the Bose system sits on top of the spare tire, and the amp is just under the false floor right below the rear brace.

Some people are pulling out their spare to build in a sub enclosure, but others are putting a box in the hatch near the front of the car under the brace.

So, let me get this straight (yes, I'm an old fart...probably the oldest here)...

The base and the Nismo REALLY only have 2 speakers, they're just calling it 4 speakers because they're counting a speaker with a mid-range and tweeter in the same enclosure as 2 speakers? (2 x 2 = 4)

Think I would opt for a box under the brace. Done right, of course.

Mind you, I'm not an anal-retentive audiophile BUT I certainly like to have some thump with my tunes.

(thanks for the reply !)

Correct you got it. Also so any of the info for the stock or base model will be the same for the nismo. The tweeters and the woofers are also called components. But yes some people call them 4 speakers.

(looking at your siggy, aren't you the one with, like, 5 DIY videos in audio...looked at some vids this morning)

No but we have chatted a bit and I did help him out with any questions he asked me.

The tweets are in the dash and the "woofers" are in the doors on the base system. Do a search or browse around to see what others are doing.

Dang Nik .. I didn't get a chance to see your bass nob when we met up a few Saturday's ago. I will to touch base with you again soon, and go over some of the specifics about your Head Unit and replacement of the speakers. Remember, I am out in the FishHawk area, so it may take some time to get out your way.. HA

the base system is made by Clarion

I'm actually very pleased with the base response of the factory door woofers. They can probably maintain 40Hz without distorting, and even listening to some old music I don't typically hear any distortion below the 22-24 volume mark.

That's good. Just so it wasn't Bose. Seems like I've heard too many problems trying to get Bose speakers to work with anything but Bose systems. The same problem that made me just keep the Bose system in my RSX.

Tanks !
