Question about upgrading system

Hi guys,

Me and my friend have been working on installing new speakers/amp/subwoofer in my car. I have the "enthusiast" package and my stock speakers are completely terrible.

As usual I have no idea what I'm doing but i'm using the tutorials/DIY on this website which have really made things easy. my friend having some experience is also the only reason this is possible, otherwise i would've just paid someone else to do it.

So far I have these things purchased and installed in my car:

MTX THUNDER75.4 400W
RMS 4-CHANNEL CLASS AB CAR AMPLIFIER AMP THUNDER-75.4

ALPINE SPS 610-C
Max RMS Power Capacity: 80W
Peak Power Capacity: 240W

Everything went well except for the tweeters, it was a bitch to remove them.

I have one question that I hope someone here can answer:

My friends is highly recommending me to change my stock unit with a double din unit. I don't really want to as I don't want the car to look like I did any modifications to it. He's claiming it will really give the sound a nice punch. With my amplifier, would changing my stock unit really make much of a difference?

Thanks!!

It will make a difference, but if you're happy with the look and sound of it as is I wouldn't change it.

Will I need a DASH KIT if i decide to get a double din unit?

Im hoping to buy

Pioneer FH-X721BT

Pioneer FH-X721BT CD Receiver, 2 DIN at Crutchfield.ca

Nope, no dash kit needed. I REALLY wish there was a company that made stock looking head units.

Hey man thanks for all of your replies, really helping me finalize this thing.

My idea getting into this upgrade was just getting a good louder clearer sound system. I don't want something out of the ordinary, just wanna be able to turn my music loud enough for the me and my passenger to enjoy. I don't think I'm gonna go ahead with the new head unit. Hopefully with the amp hooked up I can achieve this sound.

I did have a few more questions, hopefully you can answer them:

- After doing some research we finalized that we should move the wire from the amp towards the battery from the passenger end side. Apparently there's a grommet there that we can poke through and get in without any trouble. Do you recommend this?

- Any recommendations for sub locations? The kinda sub locations i see online seem like a lot of damn work. I'm thinking of just getting a sub that comes with the enclosure. I'm hoping to get 1 10 or 12 inch sub and put it somewhere in the trunk without it taking too much space. The best thing I can think of is leaving it front of the trunk near the seats, as I rarely use that place of the trunk. The question is do I get 1 sub or 2.

Thanks again!

There are companies that make stock looking head units but the BLOW in terms of quality and half baked software.
