Are the two front 12V Power Outlets Direct or Switched?

Hi Everyone

I need confirmation if the two front 12V Power Outlets are Direct or Switched (or at least the one below the glove compartment). The reason is that I am about to order a Sony MBR-100 to connect my iPod Touch to the Bose audio system via Bluetooth (I will not get Navi). If these power outlets are connected straight to the battery, then it wont be practical since I will need to be unplugging the Sony unit everytime I get out of my car to avoid draining the battery. If they are switched I think it will work.

I am expecting to get my new Roadster in December/January and I am already ordering all the stuff I want.

If you know of a better way of accomplishing the same thing let me know.

they are on an Accessory power leg of the ignition

they'll turn on during Acc and Ign (On), but temporarily drop while starting.

Thanks for your quick reply vipor.

It would not be a problem for me if they drop temporarily while starting the car. I need to be sure that they will not provide power at all once you turn OFF the engine.

Take the battery out the car and place it exactly5ft away each time to be absolutely sure.

;)
The one under the dash shuts off completely. But you can get a relay and make your own new circuit that will shut down too with the ignition.

yes, no power when the engine is off. it is "switched" power at the very least regardless of which ignition power leg it's on.
