Dash speakers with some mid range?
I am parting together a new sound system(base 2016),for speakers I have the JL C3-650,was intending on using the 6.5" driver in the doors, and the tweeter in the dash mounts.Got to thinking would it be better to use the option of mounting the tweeter on the 6.5" driver and having them together in the doors and finding another driver for the dash?Would a 4" or 3.5" speaker fit in the dash mount and would this provide a little mid range punch?

your door speakers should provide all the mid range punch you need.
will you have any type of processing? |
Hi,I have no processor, not sure if I need one with just the door speakers and tweeters?I have been out of the car audio game for quite a while, will be the first to admit I am a little out of touch.I have a Pioneer 8000nex head unit and Sony XM-GS400 four channel amp, between the amp and head unit should there not be enough processing??Don't plan on getting a sub, just want nice clean sound without booming bass.

Personally, I would put the tweeters in the dash. It will raise your soundstage, and image better, even though they are farther away from the mid than what would be considered ideal.... That Jl set has 4 different levels of tweeter attenuation, so you could play with that to keep them from being too aggressive.

I have a 4 channel amp that has built in crossovers and levels,so I won't need the crossovers that came with the JL set

even better yet.

That being the case,I assume I don't need any processing for my setup?

No one really NEEDS a processor..its a matter of choice, and what you're going after. You should be able to tweak your setup just fine with what you have. If you end up unsatisfied, that's the time to consider outboard processing.
