Metra Electronics 40-NI12 Antenna Cable

Stupid question for those that have done the aftermartket install.

This connector is straight forward. One end plugs into the factory harness, and the RCA jack connects into the head unit. There is a blue wire that I have no idea what it is for. There were of course no instructions that came with the kit.

When I tested the unit after install at my buddies house in Jax, we had AM/FM. Driving back to Daytona I lost all AM/FM. I plan on pulling the head unit tonight and double check the connection, I'm just wondering if anyone knows what to do with the blue cable as we just left it blank.

Thank you in advance.

Erik

That blue wire has to go to your powered antenna turn on OR your REM/ Amp turn on wire. This powers up your powered antenna in your back window and allows you to get signal.

I was unaware our cars have a power antenna

When we did the install be basically blocked off the wire as there were no instructions that came with the part.

Usually they are self explanatory but all good yeah any car that does not have a massive antenna sticking out somewhere had a powered antenna. And even a lot of the motorized antenna use the trigger antenna turn on.

I am a total idiot when it comes to wiring/electrical so please forgive the ignorance.

If I run the blue wire from the antenna cable to the REM slot in the AMP, will this solve my problem? Or, will I need to find another 12V power source?

I appreciate the help BTW!

Yes going to your REm it will solve your problem or antenna power wire if you have one.

I appreciate the help!
