Wait. I think I know what you did buy not exactly sure. The speakers in the door are ran off the same channel as the tweeters correct? Lft door and left tweet to one channel and right to door and tweet to right channel. The sub is running off its own channel.
If so, it's really hard to blow tweeters that way because they share power with the doors. You must have a crazy strong amp or playing really low hrtz out of them to blow. YzGyz |

Well... Ron I knew it, especially after doing some more research. I think I had it dialed pretty good until I started playing with the HU crossover. That is when I got into trouble. But on the bright side it just gives me the excuse to pull the trigger on the 165xl's that I have been wanting anyway.
Thanks for your help. YzGyz You nailed it when you said "playing really low hrtz out of them to blow" cause that is what happened. Rookie mistake on my part. |

Well guy's here we go again....Upgraded to the Hetrz 165XL Components, wired passive and have the system sounding very good. PPI 900.5 amp.
Had the local shop tune the system for me and he gave me a very good tutorial on tuning the amp but suggested that I should bridge the amp to give the front stage a little more power for a cleaner (not louder) sound at higher volume. So I attempted to do so today and was not successful. I can get the front stage sounding correct with the front portion of the amp powering the LH speaker and rear portion powering the RH speaker but have no volume with the sub. No changes were made at the HU. Can definitely here the lower notes coming thru the front speakers and not the sub. I unhooked the front speakers just to see if anything was coming thru the sub and no go, then used a dmm to check voltage, have nothing out but do have 2 acv at the rca in. I have the amp bridged with channel 1 positive & channel 2 negative , same thing for channel 3 & 4 . Is this correct ? The PPI manual does not show how to bridge this amp but does say that it is tri mode capable. Thanks An update. I fixed it. To make a long story short what happened was my first attempt to bridge my very first amp without any specific instructions for this amp was incorrect which caused the amp to go into protect mode. Fortunately I did not fry something. After unplugging everything and allowing the amp to reset and then bridging the amp correctly it is now operating as it should. Still learning.
