Default Component speaker install

10' 370 base model here...

I am looking for a decent pair of components that sound good (for the money) that will replace my stock speakers.

I had heard that the Infinity reference 6030cs component set is pretty decent for the money, but I thought I would poll the knowledgable audience here.

I'm looking to spend about $100 for the component set and I would like to use the stock wiring and stock fit rather than modifying anything. I believe this infinity set comes with spacers and the tweeter mounts for the stock brackets. I am not really familiar with audio wiring etc....I have two amps and two subs as well. Not sure if I will put my 10" in there or not.

Just trying to get a concept.

Any help, ideas etc would be greatly appreciated.

The polks will be a good starter set of component speakers however if you are thinking that you will be adding subs later on you should look into a higher price bracket for your speakers. You also will need to run a new set of speaker wire to at least the tweeter from the new crossover.

What components set do you recommend? For my setup....I'm thinking originally components and HU.....to start.... I will wire the car for a sub but will probably install it later.

After reading your post above....I think I am leaning towards the Alpine 60Cs. They are a higher rated speaker set and should provide for plenty of power and clarity when amped. I was looking at these or the Hertz 165.3s. Anyone got any comments between the two? Mike.....I sent you a PM last night...

Nice....which focals do you have.....which model? I know they can get pretty pricy......the hertz are about $150 for a set. Roughly the same and the Alpine 60Cs. This is where I want to stay with regards to price.

So.....after visiting my local audio shop. I have changed my perception of what good sound is. He played some amp'd Alpine 60c speakers then he played some Higher end focals....the clarity was insane on the focals. I am trying to figure out exactly which ones they were...

I believe those are the ones I have. It's been a while since I installed them and threw away the box. The higher more expensive ones sound better but IMO not worth the $ for sound. I mean if you have lots of extra $$ then heck yeah get them. They are really nice speakers! They are the best I have ever owned actually. I have played with car audio a good while now. I'm no expert like Big or Ron as I only play with my own equipment but I had/have some really nice stuff. I think I bought my pair for something like $190 OTD. I went to local shops and talked to them. I made deals with them to get better prices. At the time, I was looking for car tint and speakers. I told him what can you do for me? He said I have these and showed me some Alpines. I said no, they aren't good enough for me. I pointed at the Focal and he smiled. He saw that I knew some stuff and showed me the box. I read the box then told he I want to see the speaker. The man grabbed a knife, cut the tape and opened the box. I took the speaker out and took a look and asked how much. I think he said $200ish. or something. Then I asked how much for ceramic/metalic tint, life time warranty for my Z. He said he has to go look at the car. We walked out and he said the side window is easy. The back will need a BIG piece since he was sure I didn't wan't to have 2 pieces to cover the back. He said something like $200 ish. I said that's a lot. I gotten better deals. I told him to give me a number for both the speaker and tint done right now. He game me a number a lot lower then the combined $$ and I took it.

Go ask a shop and see what they can do for you. You can get them for cheaper than online sometimes. You might get a really good deal on things you need anyways such and power cable set, D rings, RCA, backup cam or whatever.

Good point.....I actually saw/heard Focals at a local store. They were amazing.....the owner said that they were about $325 or $350. They were the lower end ones and they sounded incredible! I am going to go back to the store and figure out which ones they were. I am going to buy everything online and then have a shop install it all. You can't beat the antenna and wire harness for $11 combined. I also need to do tint as well....but Because this is my weekend car....I am going to do stereo first and tint second.

I wouldn't go with the access if you can, they tend to be a lot brighter in the high frequencies sense they are not as tame as the higher end models.

Unfortunately I don't think a $400+ set of components is in my budget though.....looking to do the entire car for around $700. Including install.

Fortunately...I already have an Xplod 1200 amp that I will use for now...I already have a 400w 2-channel amp that I will power the door speakers with....I really just need......box, HU and installation.

Big is definatly right on the high on the speakers. They are piercing high. I turn the highs -4 because it can hurt after a while. I still like them. I personally can't dish out $300 for the next up. If I were to spend the $, I would pick up a pair of German Master or something like that. A local store had them and they blew the Focal out the water!

Interesting.... This is a big step up from my $115 dollar Polk audio components that I was looking to install. My issue that I am still trying to justify in my head is.....Do I go with a set of Alpine 60c or do I spend the money and go Focal polyglass 6.5s....$450 for a set of speakers for a car that I only drive on the weekends is a pretty penny.

I am just wondering what the.....2nd recommended speaker component option would be... That might not be $400+ a set....but still sound good.
