I love this solution...it's has small foot print , out of the way...and corner loads the bass keeping it nice and tight. The sub is the Pheonix Gold TI series , caution however...it was $450.00 and worth every penny ! Notice the rubber surround , the cone can throw almost an inch to push air... I had the bass knob installed to control the sound waves hitting my head.
I am kind of bummed at how much room my sub enclosure occupies. It is very small, but the hatch area is also very small. I wonder if that corner enclosure could be used with an 8" driver. Mine puts out so much bass, I don't see why I'd need anything bigger. My plan was to eventually build a custom box to hold the driver I already have and drop it in the space in front of the spare tire. Only the grill would show, much like when the sub is installed within the spare tire. I have seen it done and it looks great, but if I have to do all that work myself, $450 doesn't sound bad for a corner box.

I listen to such a wide variety it's hard to nail down. Everything including classic rock, classical, techno, hip hop, reggae, ska, 80s, folk...

I really like switching between drastically different genres to hear how one song has a lot of detailed sounds of fingertips sliding on guitar strings and hearing the breath of wind instruments, and then suddenly switching to hard hitting industrial and letting the sub show off.

Good answer ! A lot of good usable info
Says a lot ... Thanks much !

This is a great thread... I was looking to do almost the exact same install. However....after thinking about it a little more and trying to keep my budget somewhat in line.....I was thinking about going with the 7" kenwood excelon components. I realize that focal and Kenwood are in completely different categories.....however money wise the Kenwoods will fit my budget much better. I like the idea of the 5 channel sound stream amp. That is a good idea and will save the room of having to run multiple amps....

Did you mount that amp in the same location as the focal....under the seat?

Thanks for the detailed information.

If money is tight go with Image Dynamics for your components you will not be disappointed.

Problem is....they are like $300. If I am going to spend that kind of money....I would probably go mid level Focal. At $325.

The ID's will be smoother and for that price point they are worth it. Massive mid driver for good bass.

Very clean setup! I'm doing something nearly identical, except the FX variant of the Focal and the Fosgate P1000x5. I was curious, did you install the Maestro ADS-MRR? If so, do you get any obdii/sensor data displayed on your head unit? If so, what all can you see? I haven't been able to find any posts of 370z owners installing the ADS-MRR to view sensor data and was wondering if we'd be able to see things like tire pressure, air, oil temps, etc? If not, I'm tempted to stick with a cheaper steering wheel control harness.

Here's one of the comments I read in that youtube link you posted.

"Hi,

We are sorry for the confusion. Pioneer NEX series radios will support retention of the OEM sources (such as Sync, BT, uConnect, etc.) and will put data on the secondary OEM screens. However, the radios were shipped to the market without the compatibility turned on as it was not ready. Pioneer said they expect to release a firmware update in May/June that will enable this functionality.

Regarding the other screens - Gauges, Vehicle info (Tire pressure) as well as Climate Control and Parking Assist (not applicable in your install) Pioneer did not implement the screens for these features in 2014 NEX radios. While we expect to se them added for 2015, we have no indication they will exist at all for 2014. I am sorry for the confusion.

When the serial connectivity goes live, you can enable it be updating your radio and reflashing your Maestro RR on our website."
