Cambridge soundworks 2in tweeter freq resp??
I picked up a couple of Cambridge sound works 2in tweeters that I want to use as a center channel but I have no idea how low the freq resp goes . Its a cone tweeter
Does anyone have a ballpark guess ? |
I'm guessing that these tweet's are taken out of a Cambridge Audio home system? I know of no Car Audio products that they produced. That being said, their frequency response would depend on the crossover(if you have one). They are quite large for a tweeter and probably have a strong midrange & poor high end(normal for a paper tweeter). Can you post pics/part numbers?

Thanks for the reply .I contacted cambridge and theyre out of a 7.1 speaker system . Freq is 148 to 20k . Ill probably cross them at 500 or so ,

As someone who deals with car electronics and audio all day, may I ask why you're using home theater speakers? Without the right enclosure and amplification they're not going to sound good.

Appreciate the advice guys . Ive got them mounted in the cubby side by side wired for 8ohms . Theyre feed by the front amps pre outs(JLaudio 300/2) to a small amp thats bridged and crossed at about 1k.Im still tweeking the setup but they actually sound pretty good .They sound best (to me)wired out of phase . May scrap the whole thing envenually ,we'll see . I also though about trying to mount 2 small 1in tweeters firing up instead .

No center channel processor?? This will totally bone your imaging and soundstage. Better off without.

Wired them back in phase and crossed at 3.5k .If I adjust them so theyre almost inaudible they pull the sound stage a bit to the center as Id hoped .Ill probably get some 1in tweeters and a smaller amp to replace them
