Switch power (red wire) dead

My Z is a base model and the head unit was replaced a couple years ago with a Pioneer avh-x2500bt.

When I did it originally, the wiring harness was a mess so I wanted to clean it up a bit and also restore the steering wheel controls.

Anyway, I was trying program the Axxess aswc-1 and during testing had the ground wire exposed.

I accidentally touched the ground wire to the head unit case and it shorted.

Now it doesn't turn back on, and when testing voltages the switched power, wire (RED) is not getting any power when ignition is on.

I checked all the fuses in the fusebox in the battery well and next to the front-right airbox. No fuse seems to be blown.

Head unit powers up ok when fed constant 12v power, so it's not a problem with the head unit.

Any insight would be awesome, thanks!

You need to locate the fuse for the 12V constant power for the radio and confirm one side is hot. If not, you may have blown a fusible link.

i see...would that fuse be in the fusebox inside the battery well?

No, it's in the footwell on the Driver's side. 15A fuse listed as audio. Check both sides of the fuse for 12V with the ignition on(accessory) and use the contact point on top of the fuse. If 12V on one side only, bad fuse. If 12v on both sides, you have an issue between the fusebox and the radio. You could run a new power wire....

Another way of doing it would be finding the accessory wire going to the push to start button, splicing a wire into that, and connecting that wire to the red wire on the headunit.

EDIT: Kinda goes along with what 370z_Roadster was saying.
