Aftermarket Alarm Features with Factory "Alarm"??
Is there anyway to integrate some aftermarket alarm features into the factory alarm? Basically, something like a glass break sensor and motion sensor is what I'm looking for. I'm wanting to stop the window breaking and stereo theft more than the actual car theft.
If I get an aftermarket alarm, I would have to use both FOBs, right? Ideally, I want to continue to use my factory FOB to lock/unlock (being able to keep it in my pocket) while that also activates the motion sensor/glass break sensor. If there is no way to do the above, how would a full aftermarket alarm work with the intelligent key? I would have to keep the intelli key in my pocket at all times, but would lock/unlock/arm alarm with the new FOB from the alarm system? If I unlocked the car with the button on the door, would that also disarm the alarm? Any help on this is appreciated. Thanks. |

Thats the same issue im having now. Alot of places dont have the wiring harness for either a aftermarket alarm or auto starter. From what i been told is you have to replace the alarm with a full aftermarket alarm...im going to use Viper 2 for my example because thats the alarm i had on my old car.
Like you already figured, if you have a aftermarket alarm that will control the alarm, lock, unlock and trunk. However you still need your factory FOB to start the car. I'm pretty sure your factory fob can still lock/unlock the car but it wont turn your alarm on/off. So in other words you will need both the aftermarket fob and your factory fob with you. |

And I'm guessing when you press the door button to unlock the car, the alarm will still be active, so you will have to press the alarm remote as well? That sucks! Anyone have better news!?

I'll be installing a full 2 way remote start alarm on my Z within the next month or two. I've already done some research involving the factory alarm arm/disarm function as well as the CAN-Bus interface. It looks like it won't be too difficult, but I'm unsure how the factory door handle arming will end up working out. I'll have a front and rear shock sensor, (2) vertical motion (jacking) sensors, a back up battery, and a glass break. I'll be doing a complete write up on the process.
Pertaining to the motion sensor... don't do it unless you have a convertible or jeep. They false very easily due to the metal in your car. Unfortunately your only realistic and reliable detection will be the glass break, door sensors, and shock sensor.

Yours is definitely more complicated than i'm looking for. Ideally, I want to just add a glass break and vertical motion sensor to the factory alarm. Is that impossible? I don't want 2 FOBs (car and alarm) to have to carry and use.

By "pulse" I mean a hardwired ground or positive voltage wire tapped into the BCM or otherwise, not wireless.

Theoretically it is possible, but may require wiring into a door trigger to notice the factory "alarm." Not the most ideal solution, but it's not like the factory system is going to have inputs for aftermarket sensors.

Car Alarm Glass Sensor By Asianwolf Vehicle Security Manufacturer
Would that work? Seems simple. The only thing it seems to figure out is where to put the blue wire (negative sensor input of alarm). Surely that could be tapped from the factory wire...?? |

I was able to add that capability by upgrading the factory KARR alarm when I purchased from dealer. It added the ability to detect window be broken so it is possible if this is what you are looking for. My give your dealer a call.

Dealer said there is nothing from Nissan - yours must be an aftermarket thing the dealer installed. Do you have a separate Key FOB for your alarm or is the arm/disarm all done through the Nissan intellikey?
