I had a full install professionally done..including dynamat and custom sub inclosure modified and completed in 12.5 Hrs with 2-3 guys working on it...labor all told was about 450-500 bucks....they charge per component , if you buy the component from them it's cheaper to install...good job though !

Again, this is a hobby sir. I've not been in a hurry to do it. I work on it when I feel like it. Until then, the factory radio was fine.

Bingo.

While I have your attention, I pulled the interior out of the hatch. Like many, I lost two of those white clips into no-mans land.

Is there a way to get into that back space to find these clips? Or can I pick those up somewhere?

But, the rear is gutted.

Also trying to find time for work, kids, wife and other responsibilities plus wrench time can be a challenge sometimes.

YzGyz 09-18-2015 06:25 PM

Bone, don't mind the little one in the back. He's just scared of what he don't understand.

Lol. By chance do you know how to retrieve those little white clips?

BoneZ 09-18-2015 09:23 PM

Well, a blast of 120psi air and the clip came flying out. Well, one of them anyway. I'm beginning to think that one that looks chewed up didn't have a clip to begin with. I fished my scope up there and I don't see it. I saw the other one.

They are a buck a piece up at the dealer. I'm going to run up and grab a few to have on hand.

Will you post the part number, just in case someone needs it in the future?

I am with you on this one Mr Thomas :iagree:

I lost a few on my turbo install. I don't know where it went, just that they are gone.

That has to be the easiest door panel I've ever pulled off in my life.

Time to make the donuts... I mean door speaker adapters.

YzGyz 09-19-2015 02:28 PM

I know you already started but, I'm not a fan of those MDF spacers. The inside of the door is not exactly dry. It gets wet and humid in there. The MDF adsorbs a lot of moisture and break down with time.

I simply ripped the speaker part out of the original speaker. I kept the outside plastic part and mounted the new speaker to that. Just don't over tighten and you will be okay. It leaves a clean install and perfect fit.

That's a good point. I think I'll continue with these, but I have a buddy with access to a water jet cutter. Perhaps I can have him make me a set made out of polycarbonate. It would be an easy swap.

I have some Kilz. Perhaps that can prolong water absorption.

Indeed. Mine only went to 10mm.

Maybe a couple good coats of bedliner would do the trick.

Thus far, this has been the easiest car I've ever gutted. Gotta love Japanese design simplicity.

I have read some say running the wires into the doors is a pain. This is what I did and it only took two minutes.

http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/09...13054a4cd4.jpg

Get you some of this steel wire. It's easy to fish though the rubber conduit and you can see where it's poking to squeeze and reshape it.

Once you get it though, attach the wire and pull it though. I pierced the center of the speaker wire and ran the steel wire though for good grab. Tape smooths the points.

Seems to be a decent color match.
