Looking good.

I do like the flashy blue but I'm afraid my system is going to be a little more stealthy.

Yeah the rear board splits down the middle with a box for the sub. the right rear coner has my tow hook while the left has a portable compressor and a bottle slime

Yeah but if I upgrade I am moving to a pair of 8 inch subs up by the brace bar and I might experiment with some type of rear filler speakers. I think the eight's would hit faster.

A little reshaping prior to glassing.
http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08...7e2f15609a.jpg It looks like a rainbow puked in my spare. Being wax based clay, it should be a nice mold release. More importantly, my wife didn't freak out when she walked into the kitchen and saw a tire on her table. |
|
Would you be able to use the spare after construction

Well so far as I approach 30K I have never had a flat tire. I have a pair of home polk 10s so I am familiar with the softer sounding tweeter. I am still studying position options for rear fill-in, but its not critical.

Cloth and mat all cut, ready to get the resin.

If you ever want to try something crazy for fiberglass, check out US composites and their 40oz cloth. Conforms to nearly any shape, wets out well for how thick it is, and you only need a few layers. Also, because you can lay down a sheet each layer, much less sanding afterwards. Now that I've tried it, I'll never go back. Sounds more expensive at first, but you'll probably save money in the end with less layers and resin

Turns out my plans for Monday have been canceled. I now have a free vacation day. I believe I'll take advantage of this cooler weather and finish up the install over my three day weekend.

Got the cloth layers done. Time to build up the mat.
http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08...1e9d757793.jpg I'll have a bunch of clean up work to do once it hardens. |

Looking good. Keep the pics coming.

You adding any felt or cushion of some sort between the fiberglass box and the spare? The sub will move the box and cause scrap and noise when it pumps. Nice build BTW. That hardener gets hot on the hands don't it.

The hardener can get toasty. I used less hardener, so for the most part I had my gloves off before it began warming up. |
I had planned on getting more done today, but the weather was kinda crappy and I stayed in and played with the kids.
Tomorrow, I think I'll final assemble the enclosure and do the Rondo interior coating. |

This fiberglass is doing a number on my hand. No pain, no gain.

Wow it looks really awesome. Did all the clay come off the fiberglass pretty easily?

This thing fits in here so tightly, I need to think of some removal device. Done for now.

Yup, I told you about the resin and glass. It's not to friendly. Add wide flat strip of fabric or something under the box or even attach it to the top. Just two simple handles that would draped flat when not in use but easy to grab and pull to remove the box. Just make sure it's strong enough to handle the pull of the snug for and sub's weight.

In the middle of my final route, my machine died.
http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/09...62ae4b26fa.jpg After 16 years of service, I couldn't resuscitate it, even after hot wiring directly to the motor. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/09...2867b65d42.jpg Oh well, time to go tool shopping. |
My Dad had one of those Craftman routers. Was nice for the price. I think it came with a small table too. Still waiting on your finish build.
