Audio Help

Hey guys, So i have a screen AVH-P6300BT.

I would like to buy a dash kit for the z and i am very picky on fitment, does anyone have advice? The local audio shop says to stay away from Scosche and Metra and the only ones they will touch is a one from Bestkits. The metra and Scosche are 30$ while the best kits one is 100$. Can anyone chime in that has experience or can offer helpful info? Also they said it would be an extra 150$ for the steering wheel volume button to work, i didn't know it would be that much, is that a little stiff? Headunit install is 75$ alone. Thank you and any help is appreciated

they're hosing you. The bestkit is no better than any of the others. the interface for steering wheel controls is around $60. Total install would take about 30 minutes at a reputable shop.
I do these on weekends for $35, customer supplies dash kit ($30) wiring harness ($15) antenna adapter ($10) and interface ($60).
I would try a different shop, or ask friends if they have any experience with installs.

I hate all auto shops, they charge insane prices do just simple ish!!! Azzwipe wanted to charge me $250 just to install my Amp in which I already knew how to do myself, but just didn't have the time, well trust me, after that quote I made the time. I'm pretty well rounded on all aspects of autos and never use a shop unless I really have to. Hopefully some local Z owners will chime in and offer to come over help with the install, buy a pizza, a few drinks and make some new friends in the process.

Will that metra kit fit that Head unit ?

I went with the Scosche dash kit. I felt like it looked cleaner than the Metra kit... though I used the stock metal receiver mounts instead of the plastic ones that came with the kit.

I heard to stay away from Scosche, how do you like yours?

I would agree to stay away from their electronic parts. But, I had absolutely no issues with the dash kit. Great fitment. Finish matches the rest of the interior well. Plus, it didn't have the odd double trim that the Metra kit has.

No complaints here.

Thanks for the input!

What heading do you have Gerg?

Gerg 06-22-2015 12:11 AM

No problem. Stick to the Metra kit for the electronics. There are some good writeups on the site for doing the install yourself. It's how I got through it.

Even did the steering wheel controls and backup camera. The370z.com has everything you need.

Beats taking it to a shop that doesn't seem to know what it's talking about.
