Default Simple Install?

OK, so I thought I would post/re-post this information in one spot as it may help someone else.

I am doing a modest install of door speakers, sub/amp and new HU. This is a phased approach, so the first phase was door speakers. I choose Infinity due to past experience and price.

I rolled the windows halfway down, as I was disconnecting the neg battery terminal and didn't want to accidentally be locked out. The removal of the door panels and kick panels was fairly easy. The videos in the sticky section is helpful if you need a place to start.

The "fun" started with running new speaker wire through the molex. The trick for removing the molex is to close the door partially - easy. Running the wire through the molex was done with electrical fish tape, again fairly easy and adding a lubricant would have made it even easier.

Cut your holes in the molex so they align when you run the wire. When you go to reassemble you'll notice that the lever will lock in the fully open position. Don't panic as this should occur, it will unlock when you fully seat the molex back in it's original position. Go slow and don't force it, if you bend the pins, you'll likely be buying a new wiring harness and ripping the whole dash apart.

I tapped power temporarily from the tweeter lead by using the connector from the tweeter, just soldered it onto a wire going to the crossover. Looking for the speaker wires from the stock radio looked like a nightmare and this solution allows me to work in relative ease.

My windows did not require a reset, but the airbag did. I had the glovebox out as I needed to replace the cabin filter behind it.

Blinking Airbag Light
1. Push the start button two times (Ignition on but engine not started).

2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off INSTANTLY.

3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)

4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.

5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.

6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

If it does not work the first time, just repeat the steps again.

NOTE: When you do this, you will lose any "chimes" associated with keys/doorlocks. For example, when I get out of the car with the engine running now, the car doesn't make those 3 annoying beeps (to let me know the keys are not in the vehicle). Same goes for the lock button next to the (door)handle. Pressing the "lock" button on the key fob still yields a "honk" however.

Window Reset
1. Push the ignition switch to the ON position.
2. Close the door.
3. Open the window completely by operating the power window switch.
4. Pull the power window switch and hold it to close the window, and then hold the switch more than 3 seconds after the window is closed completely.
5. Release the power window switch. Operate the window by the automatic function to confirm the initialization is complete.
6. Perform steps 2 through 5 above for other windows.
