Those scans are amazing man! To bad I wasn't able to get out there with you. I was still able to get some decent scans. I just can't wait to get off work to get home and start back on my models. Super stoked for what comes next!!

Thanks. I am going to scan the upper intake manifold next week. That may be a little more difficult. The system I use, uses reference points to create the model, unlike the one you went to that uses a CMM to create the model. The downside to mine is I have to paint my parts usually (washable paint) then I have to stick these little dots all over it (which is annoying) but it can scan with amazing detail. I am going to see about converting the files I have into some modeling software to play with the images.

I wasnt able to get solidworks to open any of the files yet. I have a few more "save as" options on the files I am going to try. |

The .obj format should let you import it into 3ds MAX and lower the resolution there. That's what I am doing with this large scan as I tear it apart.

I've been playing around in 3d this weekend making some components and sizing down my model. So I figured I would show you all what I have been up to..
Oh and check out my Tesla screen album for other pictures not shown here! ![]() ![]()

So I spent a lot of time over the weekend and last night finding specifics on the core components of the computer and put them into 3d. Including a simplified dash model. I managed to get the file down from 3 million polygons down to around 50,000. Now that I have a workable model I will be reshaping it to fit the large screen!
I will post some more pictures when I get home tonight!

I finally had a chance to take a couple pictures of some a the components I have been working on. This is a slim DVD burner to play your physical media. I have also modeled the RAM sticks and Solid State Drive. But they just weren't as cool looking as these lol.

I spent 3 hours last night working on the dash model, and had just started putting in some detail. All of a sudden the program freezes up and gives me a fatal error! So it turns out I hadn't saved at all and lost every bit of my work.... Back to the drawing board...
