Thanks to Shapeways we placed our order today for our first 3D print! It will be exciting to get it in and begin fitting soon. It's estimated to arrive mid January so make sure to check back to the thread for more updates.

This is an awesome idea and a great thread, and you're making good progress.
Turns out in car pc's are are a moderately popular thing. I'm not sure if I'm adding to the discussion or not, but have you seen this: rcjoycon It's a steering wheel audio control to USB converter. Our car isn't listed in the compatibility list, however the the 350Z is. I'm not sure if we have resistive controls or not, but looking at other after market controllers the 350Z and the 370Z use the same controller. The adapter and configuration software is $46 on ebay, $6 for shipping by slow boat from South Korea and ~$23 by EMS. |

We got our package in today! It came in a week and a half early!! So of course we had to take the dash apart and do a quick fitment. There are a few minor fixes that we will have to do. But as you can see it fits great including the vents and the starter button!!
Here are a couple of pics with the dash and monitor. http://www.the370z.com/members/asorg...int-screen.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/asorg...int-screen.jpg |
And we can't leave you hanging without showing you what it looked like in the dash.
http://www.the370z.com/members/asorg...st-fitment.jpg And finally the last pic for tonight was taken with the fitting of the vents and start button. Like a glove! http://www.the370z.com/members/asorg...ping-great.jpg |
bravo sir!

Nicely done!
Is there anyway to reduce/lower the top section or is that needed to cover the screen bezel? I like the progress. Keep it up! |
If the top part gale is talking about can be rounded a bit.

Thanks for the support everyone, it has been great to have you all backing me in this project of mine. And the feedback has been very helpful! The Z family is definitely the best car community out there!

asorg31.
This is really awesome! Thanks for posting the updates. This is going to be really awesome! |
You could make your own business with this haha. Have the Console trims made and sell them and you could sell the indash screen with or without it for the extra cost.
I'd friggin buy it lol! |

So what are possible prices we are all going to be looking at? Just want to make sure I have the cash in hand. haha ALSO!!!! I HAVE A GREAT IDEA FOR THE CONSOLE.... Offer it in Leather and Carbon Fiber. I will be in for the Carbon Fiber one haha So Carbon Fiber Console and whatever it costs for the screen  :bowrofl: |
There is definitely going to be some wiring and whatnot involved also. So that will surely add to the cost, its more than just a console and a screen for sure!

Any estimations on when this will be complete/available to buy?

Thanks for the follows guys! Birdman71 the leather and carbon fiber are both definitely in the works ( I personally want Carbon Fiber). A lot of it depends on what process I choose to make the dash either injection molding (very expensive for mold +50k) or resin infusion (cheap molds but high material cost i.e. carbon fiber). As far as costs right now I am working with vendors to try and get cheaper quality parts to help me to drive the costs down. As it stands now I plan to try my best to keep final costs around $1,500 but at worst no more than $2k. There are many things that are still not known such as wiring like Venom13132 mentioned that still have to be accounted for. Once things begin to solidify and we get near launch I will keep everyone up to speed! 2015nismo as far as ETA I am shooting to be Beta testing by fall 2016 and full product launch by end of 2016 or beginning of 2017. Please keep in mind this all depends on my team meeting deadlines for this to happen. So lets all cross our fingers and hope it all goes as planned. :excited: |
I went out after work yesterday and picked up some body filler and sand paper to begin the work of finishing out the dash piece. But before I can start on that I have to post a few more pictures of the fitment from Sunday. Let me know what you think!

I went ahead and pulled my laptop out to the car and plugged up the monitor with the interface as it stands now (framework only, more development coming!) just to see what it looked like. I myself LOVED it!

Sorry one last pic because it does not hurt to ask. Does anyone know where these metal clips can be bought? they on every removable part I have found not just the dash. But I have not been able to find them for purchase....
