Yeah I had too many low spots and I tried to fill them in. Instead of going back to the drawing board. Which is what I decided to do last night. Too many problems to try to fix with body filler. Unfortunately it was something I had to do, sometimes you just have to see it in person to see what needs to be fixed. Well... back to modeling... :shakes head:

No more updates on this?

Yes there are, as a few people mentioned I found too many areas of concern on this print. Including the biggest problem was the scale factor was too large. As well as a few really low spots on the part (too low for body filler). If I was to try and flex it into place the bondo would crack.:shakes head:

So I had to take a very frusterated step back and find out what happened. After taking some time to figure out where the scale factor went wrong and adjusting some more blemish areas I will be ready to print again. I have taken into consideration the concern of a few of you about the top of the dash being too high. So I am trying to hold the shape of the original dash with this design and inset the monitor a little bit more. I will keep you all updated with images as work progresses.

I think you can get ahead of Braniac by getting the product done first but also by developing good quality parts just the way you are doing it so far.
Keep it up and keep us updated because one way or another I will be getting something like this eventually :)

Hey thanks for the support CanadianSteel! That is definitely my approach is to not settle for less than great quality. It is what led me to scrap the first dash attempt and begin fresh. I know I haven't updated here for a while. I just wanted to make sure that I had something worth showing first. Which I am nearing that point now, so it shouldn't be long before I am ready to show progress. Be on the lookout and thanks again for everyone's support so far!

Don't be afraid of a bit of competition, just offer something cool that they're not offering, and you can steal all of their customers.

In for updates. I custom installed an Android tablet in my Frontier and been plotting on it for my Z. This will save me all that trouble. Hope it turns out and is a decent value once complete.

#// Hey all its been a while since there has been anything to show, but here it is. After a lot of trial and error with out 3D print we decided that the design needed more work. So we have spent the last month at the drawing board trying to perfect the design. We decided to go with an inset dash as some suggested earlier after working with our monitor vendor on sizing. We will be looking at Shapeways for another print very soonl
