Tesla styled screen setup

Holy smokes! That thing does look massive, but it also looks extremely cool. What's your timetable look like from here on out?

Hey thanks man! Right now since the only time I have to design is late nights and weekends, my goal is to have the prototype installed in my car by the beginning of the year.

Hahaha well it actually is much bigger. The overall size including bezel makes it out to be 13.5" x 8.875". And thank you I honestly forgot that I had gone with the 13.3" on the diagonal. So actual screen size is roughly 11.5" x 6.5". Still huge for our Z's.

My questions seeing it in place now is, what are your plans for the A/C control knows, looks like you will be covering them up?

They will be integrated into and controlled from the screen. similarly to how the Tesla Model S has their controls. There are boards out there called phidgets which allows you to take the analog signal (from the switches) and change it to digital (from the pc). The most challenging part for that will be the coding necessary to make it work.

Digitally it will look similar to the top right picture.

Haha no Arkansan born and raised. I went to a local college there. Most of what I have learned as far as 3d design has either been on the job training or very hard work on my own time and expense. I did have some amazing traditional art teachers and professors over the years whom I learned many needed skills like sketching, painting, etc.

Thanks very much for the kudos though!

I sat down with my user interface designer on Thursday to begin hashing out what I wanted the interface to look like. I am so excited to see where this project is going! Take a look at our first hand drawn sketches and let me know what you guys think! Hope you all are as excited as we are!!

Still looking amazing! I seriously want to do this with my Z if I redo the interior entirely. It would be awesome!

Hmmm... Any ETA? I'm in the process of doing the audio/interior in my car as we speak.

I expect I have about 20 hours of 3D design remaining to finalize the dash. Another 20 hours to polish out the 3D print. At least 80 I believe to design the UI. It's a good estimate to guess around 80 for the programmers as well.

So at this point the I expect to have the alpha prototype running by mid January. I plan on taking a 60 days minimum to test and fix any issues found. At which point I will be looking for 3 Beta testers to push the system hard.

I would love to hear from the community and pull some testers from here. If you're interested PM me and let me know how you can help. I will be looking for people who hit the track a lot, have extreme audio affinity, etc.

I'm not sure if you've seen this or not, but there is another company doing something similar for the FRS/BRZ.
