If you wanted constant WiFi, you'd have to have one of those wireless cards, and they are $40 or so a month. So, unless you're a heavy commuter, it may not be worth it

I totally agree, you can get WiFi hotspot adapters through your local wireless carrier but to me that part isn't worth it to me. But simply being wifi capable most definitely is a requirement.

Alright I finished the renders and got them uploaded to the photo album a little earlier. They are just a little more polished than the vector point ones from earlier. But I like them better lol.

It all comes down to those pesky tabs making things so complicated...

Just a thought: if the tabs are causing problems for production, they could potentially be separate pieces that screw into the main piece. It introduces an extra point of failure, but it allows the tabs themselves to be manufactured separately and be replaceable. So depending on your goals it may or may not be preferable.

If I decide to stay with the molds over injection molding that is what I have been looking into. I had intended on using an epoxy mounting system. When it comes to production those tabs will most likely be too small and too oddly shaped to work well with the molds anyway. The screws may definitely be a stronger solution than the epoxy where room allows.:tiphat:

I know its late but sub'd

That would awesome to have an interior look like the Tesla. That's honestly the nicest interior I have seen besides the new Pagani Huayra R

what program and connections are you going to use to control the air conditioning again?

I'm planning on using Centrafuse for software and Phidgets to tie in climate controls.

I put in the overtime last night for about six hours after I worked my full time job. I finished the mesh clean-up work and welded all the tabs except the ones with the metal clips and the two lower ones that connect to the shifter area. I have also decided on a screen and should hopefully have it here in about a week!

I was pretty disappointed once I finally got the overall dimensions for all the screens I was looking at. Although the active area fit well into the area needed the casing was inches to wide. Having to rework the vents is out of the question so I had to downsize from the 15.6 I wanted to a 13.3. Not a huge loss and I was still able to keep the native 1080p and stay in the 300 nit brightness as well. Overall I think it was a good decision.

Wow that's so cool. The screen size will be perfect. I can't wait to see it. Excellent job, KUDO's to you!

Alright everyone,

I finished up the base dash model tonight and published it to a 3d model veiwer site called sketchfab. I'll post the link below to it. Unfortunately the forum doesn't support their BB code yet (already asked ak370z about it :rofl2:).

Soon as I have my hands on the monitor I will start to polish out the new design a bit and get it sent of for the 3d print prototype. Please follow the link and let me know what you think, and if you like what you see don't be afraid to hit that like button on Sketchfab :tiphat:... Also there seem to be some gliches around the tab where they connect to the dash but they aren't present in my model so it will take a little time to figure that out.

This and that custom single gauge A-pillar pod are my favorite 'one-off' parts I've seen on this forum.
