Yes very good right up there with Image Dynamics and focal. Just make sure to have good clean power going to them. Also the more expensive ones are the better ones.

I would say you would happier with ID subs rather than rainbow subs. There components are better than there subs.

It is very common for high end audio companies to make great components and so so subs, Diamond Audio comes to my mind. Or you get the opposite like JL, they make awesome subs and amps but thier components are Meh! ok, but not great. However if you like really dry sounding bass that is super accurate for like Jazz and Classical, you might want to look at Focal subs. Note, they have to be ported. That is what Focal recommends. Despite the fact that they are ported, they have amazing sound quality. I have played around with the Access and Polyglass series subs and I feel they are worth mentioning. But my personal favorite subwoofer is a JL 12W6V2 in a 1.5 cu ft sealed enclosure!

Two thumbs up for JL Audio W3v3 series! They sound sweet!
The W1V2 series are ok but I hate how they look, but the new W0V2's are cheaper and better! If you are running 250Watts or more go W3, if less than I would go W0 series.

Single 12 much wider freq band that they can reproduce. The ID Q will be tighter than the JL but they are about them same.

I also agree with a single 12, same reasons plus its more cost effective.

Most all car audio speakers are 4 ohm therefore all car audio amplifiers are rated to drive 4 ohm speaker. Any good car audio amplifier will drive a 2 ohm load without breaking a sweat. Most home audio speakers are 8 ohm (higher resistance) In car audio speakers, specifically subwoofers, come in different ohms ratings for getting the most out of your amplifier. Lets say your amplifer has a rating of 250watts RMS X 1 @ 4ohms and 500watts RMS X1 @ 2 ohms. If have a subwoofer that is 2 Ohms you can harness that extra 250 watts that would otherwise not be produced if you are using a 4 ohm driver. Now lets say you have (2) identical 4 ohm subwoofers, you can wire them parallel (+ to + and - to - ) together and the two subwoofers wired in this configuration will create a 2 ohm load. Remember that your amplifier will work twice as hard to drive a 2 ohm load so make sure it can handle this rating and that it gets proper cooling to disapate the extra heat.
