audio system 2.0
Well, after installing my new system in my Ram 3500, I "needed" to change the system in my Z. Out comes the Alpine 927HD, out comes the Alpine components and out comes the JL 2 Ch amp. The new head unit will be a Pioneer AVIC8000NEX, I beleive the components are Helix (model ?, they are the step above the ones in my truck but the shop cut me a deal.) and the amp is a 4ch JL bridged to 2x200 rms at 4 ohm. The JL Stealthbox is being redone from the inside. It will be beefed up considerably. The boxes are pretty flimsy. Should make for tighter base and less rattle, etc. There will be more dynamat added as well.
I took a leap of faith the tuning issues would be fixed and decided to build the audio stuff. lol I was never fully satisfied with the Alpine stuff. I used to swear by them. |

I have to drop off some parts monday. I will take pics of the progess then. And when it is all done.
Any Az folks should check Sound Xpression out. Or just look at the website. David and Jeff are two of the best stereo guys around. |
I was wrong... here are the components.

As promised, here are some pics of the car at the stereo shop. The doors have so much dynomat they sound like a Mercedes when you shut the door. It made a insane difference to sound quality of the components. Sounds like there is a sub when the sub box is out of the car. The mid base speakers are just so nice. I am sure the much boosted power didn't hurt either. Of course this is all in process so wire are still messy, etc.
The box was in process of being totally redone. They added so much fiberglass, a support in the middle and even reshaped the back a little to add material while still looking the same. They will recarpet to match too. https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8658/...e24861d7_c.jpgStereo 2.0 by DanK1, on Flickr https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7399/...4614aac7_c.jpgStereo 2.0 by DanK1, on Flickr https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8581/...938db5c1_c.jpgStereo 2.0 by DanK1, on Flickr https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8645/...83383793_c.jpgStereo 2.0 by DanK1, on Flickr https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8635/...61457094_c.jpgStereo 2.0 by DanK1, on Flickr https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7330/...1cfcb18c_c.jpgStereo 2.0 by DanK1, on Flickr |
What a difference. Only problem is the hatch rattles more. lol These components are nice. I am told they get even better after 20-30 hours.
The head unit I was already used to. The installer even hard wired a charger for my phone that I had running to a cigarette lighter outlet. Looks way nicer this way. https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8644/...818674e8_c.jpgUntitled by DanK1, on Flickr https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7308/...a0e67fbf_c.jpgUntitled by DanK1, on Flickr |
Nice, I have an 8000 as well, love it.

I have one in my truck too. I like it way better than the Alpine 927hd I had.
