I imagine the horizontal brace is pretty helpful, but with an already thick C-pillar, and without being triangulated (ie crossing), i think the secondary braces are pretty useless

yah, especially on my car running basically stock suspension, completely worthless.

No. The seconday braces hold the car from twisting the frame from all the ponies u might have.
