IS the IPDM E/R coded to vehicle?

Went to swap one in '11 Nismo, same part number but slightly later revision number.

The car didn't want to recognize the key and had the steering wheel icon on display. Would not go to "On" when pushing start button?

We put the original one back in and worked fine.

We did not disconnect the battery and wondering if that is why it didnt like new one?

Don't want to try anything else until get an opinion.

So did the different IPDM work? Mine went out too, got one from a 2018 370z, wondering if it’ll work
