Agonizingly Slow Response Times

I understand that recently there has been a moving of the Forums to another server. But the response times are totally awful. When I go to the Forum the initial page takes almost 2 full minutes to load. Also a SEARCH completely hangs. When going from one page to another in the same thread it either hangs or take over 4 minutes to get to the next page.

This is happening no matter where I am or what computer I am using. It can be at home, work or hotel it doesn't matter. Operating systems don't make any differentce either. It happens under Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7.

Can you provide any explanation as to what is happening?

They are still migrating to the new server, I believe tonight is the final night of work.
Server migrations are never easy, I know, and unfortunately this server has grown quickly which makes finding a solid server which can support this plus more it tough.

It definitely hurts. I'm just hoping it ends soon.

Zkindaguy, I'm very for this slow performance and it hurts me to see you guys surf like this.

Tonight we are moving to a new server which means forum will be down from 1130 Eastern standard time (1030 central standard time). It will probably take at least 6-8 hours (can be sooner but it depends on how soon the domain registrar update the DNS).

I hope this sluggishness will go away after the move. Hopefully everything gets transferred over without any issues, errors or data loss.

thanks

aK

I totally agree, you should ask for your premium member money back. Oh wait, you're here for free.

I've been a Unix/Linux Systems admin for roughly 11 years... and trust me I've done my share of server moves. This site was running in a degraded mode for over 2 weeks.. Granted this isn't a mission critical website (maybe the nsfw section is lol) but I would have been fired if I would have taken this long to migrate a site to a new server..

AK you need to fire your IT staff. lol.. glad the site is back to normal.

I don't think Ak! can fire himself.. :roflpuke2:

ya but isnt the site hosted somewhere? like a managed service type thing? Or does AK run the servers himself? (in which case I retract the whole firing thing) :)

well, most the delay was caused by me because I was a little busy and I take full responsibility. After all, I have a social life and family. I truly apologize for the delay (though there was a little misunderstanding in communication with my host as well). As you've said, this ISN'T a mission critical site. The site was running even though it was slow. Also, I wanted to make sure all our queued emails were out before we made this move.

Well if it makes you feel better, I give you the power to say "AK, you're Fired". Make sure you have a Donald Trump wig on your head :ugh:
