Member "Drives" option launched 01.07.09

Well, now that members are already buying the 370Zs, I have decided to launch the "member drives" option (as promised).

I have set the character limit to 20 meaning you can put up to 20 character to describe your car (s).

You can use the following format for best results. This format gives other members
a. Year of your vehicle
b. color of your vehicle
c. Transmission of your vehicle
If you're replying to a topic in drivetrain section or exterior section, member do not have to ask you what transmission you have or what color is your car. They can get the info at a glance from your postbit.

09 Nissan 370Z MB 7A (or M6)

09- year of your car
Nissan 370Z - model of your car
MB- Magnetic Black
7A - 7 speed auto (M6 - 6 speed manual)

I should also point out that this field is for your current car you're driving hence it's called member "drives". So, whatever you're driving, feel free to fill it in. You DO NOT have to drive or own a 370Z to use the field.

Nice!!

Cool, but perhaps it shouldn't be a mandatory field, as some people may not have cars. It would not let me view the forum until I entered something in that field, which was a bit inconvenient, but not a huge deal.

You can put the car you're driving at the moment in the field. It DOESN'T have to be a 370Z. Sorry for the confusion :o
<--------------- Look at mine ;)

No worries, I understand it doesn't have to be "370z" it was more that it wouldn't let me access any part of the forum until I put something in there. Not a big deal.

well, I made it required because people have a tendency to NOT fill out their profile. If they don't fill it out this field, then it doesn't show up in the post bit. So, it's right back to where we started -- no "at a glance info" on what they drive.

Location and drives are the ONLY required option here in our forums. You guys make all the decisions around here so if you guys want it to be "not required",that can also be done.:tiphat:

I work downtown San Francisco, and the Bay Area has great public transportation. I walk everywhere I need to go, and train anywhere else.

I sold my 350Z about 8 months ago because it sat in a garage all the time. But I miss being able to get out on the weekends and drive the coast, hence my interest in the 370, and I just miss driving.

That would explain why I couldn't search.

The only time one will get no notification ban is when they harass another member. Other than that, you'll get notification.

I work (and Live) in downtown San Francisco too, man. I know exactly what you mean. I have kept my 300ZX Turbo in the east bay on family property for the last 4 years but I miss having a car at my disposal so much Ill pay to rent a spot in my garage and bring it in with me.

Yeah that is a good way to go. I am thinking of keeping mine in Walnut Creek being it is an easy BART ride away.

We will have to get an SF meet going here soon...
