Exclamation Rut Ro...Lifeless Leaf

Apparently, the Leaf is not getting the mileage Nissan said it would. Can you say "turtle"?

Nissan electric car stranding owners

Nissan Unofficial Statement:

Quote:
Listed mileage is not necessary for normal operation of the vehicle on public roads. The addition of sufficient batteries would have raised the price of the car and potentially moved it out of the reach of some customers. Value has been a core principle of the Leaf since the original Leaf and we choose to uphold this core principle by not adding additional costs that are unnecessary for normal use. Therefor, we chose to use insufficient batteries. For those individuals who choose to drive their vehicle daily, additional batteries are available as an aftersales item.*
*A humorous play on Nissan's official response to the lack of an oil cooler, but probably not that far way from the truth. And yes, I'm getting a lot of mileage out Nissan's PR.
