Concerning number 3, that's why a lot of orthopedic inserts tell you to ask your doctor, especially if you have diabetes. Strangely enough, everything goes through your feet; all the blood in your system has, at one point or another, gone through the foot, and it does so several times in a day. What's even stranger is that if a person were to wear foam socks, completely white, and it was damp, it would turn a color on the inside, not from possible foot fungus, but because certain bodily wastes go through your feet!
I think they use that same concept in herbal medicine that basically tells you to steep your feet in herbal water.
