Ive been telling fanboys of both sides that they are built for different markets.
Apple products are very good for people who dont really have a clue about tech / software and just want a smooth functioning, no hassle product with everything integrated so they dont have to go anywhere.
Android stuff these days is still being purchased more by the techies, the tinkerers etc.
Thats a result of apple locking down their OS/UI and keeping developers in check.
Android yes is definitely more open, and while SOME of the apps are developed the same, you have alot of bad apps to filter through on the andriod as there is no real checks on them.
Also android market is not a good market for developer who want to make money. many of them have complained that android users simply dont like to pay for apps. Thus again leading to the type of buyer (techies, tinkerers etc)
