Since 2002 soy has been used as a partial substitute for petroleum based products in cars. Soy oil is used in making the rubber insulator jacket because it's more environmentally friendly and make the rubber more stretchable. It also makes it more edible.
Denver International Airport has even had problems with rabbits eating the wiring out of cars parked in long term parking.
