I just put Conti DWS 285/35R19 on the rears. Definitely less dry traction than the stockers, even at 80% wear. Wet traction is greatly improved though. And, probably more important than either, the characteristics of how the tire breaks loose is infinitely more predictable and controllable.
With the nearly dead stockers I tended to get great traction right up to the point it let go completely with little warning, leading to some exciting recoveries. The DWS trip the traction light a lot more often, but even in the middle of a turn are so much more predictable that I find it far easier to recover while maintaining speed and avoid the dreaded power cut from the traction control system.
Trying to find a size for them to go on the fronts now.
